the new forest
The beautiful New Forest has much to offer its
visitors, from the most spectacular views and open forest land;
ideal for walking and cycling to the wonderful wildlife which can
found almost everywhere you look. Originally commandeered in 1079 as
a deer hunting area by William the Conqueror, The New Forest is now
a national nature reserve covering some 93,000 acres of Hampshire.
New Forest Ponies, donkeys and cows roam free over the countryside,
whilst deer can regularly be seen wandering in the more secluded
areas of the forest, which is also home to a fantastic range of wild
birds.
There is no end of choice for those who enjoy walking or cycling.
Secluded woods, wide open forest land and rivers are popular places
for picnics or just relaxing in the peaceful surroundings.
